Associated Artists of Winston-Salem
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Storefronts Winston-Salem is a new program of Associated Artists.
We are accepting entries from artists for the second series of installations. All visual media are accepted. Dynamic installations that engage passersby and fill the window as much as possible are preferred. Also desirable are installations that include accommodations for both day and night viewing. We encourage diverse artists and a wide range of media and art forms, from traditional to the experimental. For example, possibilities could include interactive kinetic work, paintings directly on window glass, installations made of adhesive vinyl or projected video animations, to name just a few. We encourage collaborations between artists working in complementary media.
- Participating artists will receive $250 stipend per window, 75% payable upon installation, 25% payable upon de-installation.
- All materials are the responsibility of the artist. This includes hanging hardware, temporary walls, and other fixtures and materials that may be required to show work in the windows.
- AAWS pays for reasonable utilities (when required by property owner) and general liability insurance and serves as liaison with the property owner.
- AAWS volunteers provide installation support when specifically requested and approved.
- Designs should not be specific to one location. Locations are subject to change based on availability. We cannot guarantee a specific property or location.
- Lighting is responsibility of the artist.
